A Dominican author and model who resides in the United States is featured in the Mahogany Vogue Magazine’s September 2012 issue.

Keisha Esprit, who grew up in Barbados, had the opportunity to see her mother Janette Reifer-Esprit manage the “Eleganza” Modeling Group; a positive group which showcased Barbados’ talents among citizens.

The group members were involved in various projects and programs such as modeling clothing for the high-end Shopping Stores and Malls and growing up in that environment helped formed Keisha’s love for modeling.

In 2010, Ms. Esprit wore Nicki Minaj’s blazer designed by Delise Ana Fashions at one of New York Fashion Week 2010 Shows. This blazer is part of entertainment’s history as the blazer was worn by Nicki Minaj in the August, 2010 issue of Black Men Magazine.

“It was a surprise for me. The makeup artist did their part, the designer and assistants made a few changes of attire of what was most appropriately fitting for each model. I was not expecting to be given that particular piece designed by the talented Delise Ana but it was a great thing”.

She is also one of 200 ladies who were selected to model at the PLITZS New York City Fashion Week. There were 36 designers from the Caribbean, Europe, Canada and the USA.

Mahogany Vogue Magazine which features exclusive interviews with some of the most fashion-forward celebrities in entertainment has chosen Esprit to be one of them.

Featured celebrity artistes include: Dominique Reighard of America’s Next Top Model (ANTM) Cycle 10, and ANTM All-Stars; recording artists and reality TV personalities Trina Braxton (Braxton Family Values) and Elijah Connor (TV One Presents: The Ultimate Merger featuring Toccara Jones; Millionaire Matchmaker).

“I feel honored to be featured in a magazine with household names that I’m a fan of and that are seen in a positive light,” Keisha said.

She emphasizes the fact that Dominica is a country with beautiful ladies; “there is so much mix ethnicity within the country which creates exotic beauty”.

“I appreciate and thank Dominicans like Ms. Glenda Lugay who does Fashion Shows there to motivate the youth. I also thank and I am proud of my cousin Gemma Florant, who is a beauty Queen and portrays such flamboyance. She contributes greatly in the sense of bringing fashion at its highest to Dominica while trying to coordinate Fashion events within the beautiful island of the Commonwealth of Dominica. She is an epitome of style, class and fashion within the Nature Island of Dominica,” she explained further.

Esprit is also willing to assisting youth in Dominica who are interested in modeling.

“The Community and the youth always need positive activities to aspire to and to keep them focus. I hope that more Fashion Shows will be held and that more Dominicans can also have the chance to model with PLITZS and other Fashion Marketing Companies”.

She has also expressed gratitude to her mother, Janette Reifer-Esprit for “setting the foundation of her Eleganza Modeling Group, PLITZS Marketing Company for opening doors for aspiring models, relatives and friends including her cousin Fidel Durand and brother Calvin Esprit for encouraging her throughout modeling events.
