The delegation arrived here on Wednesday and was treated to a welcome reception with music from the Pointe Michel Cultural Group at the Public Service Training Centre on the Roseau Bayfront last evening.
The purpose of the visit is to discuss avenues of business between the Roseau City Council and the Saint D ‘Esprit Council of Martinique.
“We have to work together, it’s important that we stay together,” Mayor of Roseau Cecil Joseph told the delegation.
“We have seen Europe, America; their economies are getting bad and bad and bad every day and as a people in the same waters, we must remain together to ensure our culture, to ensure our status remain alive for the rest of the world”.Mr Joseph noted further that he is particularly interested in ways in which both councils can develop the areas of education and culture among others.
“What is more important to me is to create the relationship in education, health, sports and culture because that’s what we are made of,” he said.
It is anticipated that the delegation will visit various tourist destination sites here as well as businesses.
The delegation will return to Martinique on Saturday, April 13th.
